Gaelic Football in Scoil na gCailíní
Last year was an historic year in Scoil na gCailíní as girls from 5th and 6th class took part in the Cumann na mBunscol Blitz and Cumann na mBunscol League competitions for the first time. We were very excited to get involved in the competitions and looked forward to the first blitz in Drumhowan. The girls were so well prepared by their coach Darren Mc Quillan and they easily qualified for the finals in Cloghan. On that day the girls won many of their matches and did themselves, Scoil na gCailíní, Darren and their parents proud with their excellent football skills and exemplary behaviour and sportsmanship.
Towards the end of the year the girls took to the field again to participate in the Cumann na mBunscol League. This time all their experience and training paid off and the girls returned to our school victorious! We were so excited and proud to have won the league in our first year competing in the competition. Well done to all the team members and to their coach Darren. We can’t wait until it is time to put on our football boots again this year.
